Keanu Reeves Reveals His Only Concern With The Matrix Resurrections

Now that The Matrix Resurrections is officially here, members of the cast and crew have been talking about how the newest movie came about. That includes Keanu Reeves, who said that he never had any real concerns about making The Matrix 4 other than he was a bit worried about how the audience was going to react to it.

There has been quite a bit of talk to several different people about whether or not they were worried about continuing such a beloved trilogy. Some of the actors in The Matrix 4 had been asked whether or not they had any trepidations on coming back to the storyline considering it's been quite a while since the last movie came out. There was the added potential drama in the fact that Warner Bros. was dead set on making another installment in The Matrix franchise even if the creators weren't on board. However, Reeves didn't have any real concerns when it came to making another entry into the series.

Sitting down with Associated Press, the actor was asked whether or not there was anything that caused him pause in making The Matrix Resurrections. At first, he said that there was none, saying that he was excited to work with Lana Wachowski again. However, he added that there might have been some concern if the talk he had with the creator didn't go as well as it did.

In fact, the only thing that ever really caused him anxiety it was that he was afraid the audience might not like it. He said that he didn't know how people would react to The Matrix Resurrections. In particular, whether they would like the newest installment.

Reeves added that personally, he wasn't worried about it. He also said that when he read the script and saw how the movie was going to be carried out, there were no concerns at all. He felt that everything that was involved in the production was exceptional, so he was very on board.

The reaction from fans and critics to what may or may not be the start of a new Matrix trilogy has actually been fairly mixed. According to Metacritic, the film only scored a 64 percent and is only getting a 3.8 rating from the audience. However, over on Rotten Tomatoes, the film is getting a 65 percent from critics but a much higher rating from the audience, who are giving it a 63 percent positive rating.

The Matrix Resurrections is now playing in theaters and on HBO Max.
